Gay Marriage and The State of Iowa

The boyfriend finally saw my blog post on Gay Marriage and Christianity, and he told me he once saw this speech by a kid defending Gay Rights.
He led me to this link. So I watched it. I know it's dated waaaay back.
I LAUGHED non-stop during that stupid state rep's speech.

I've quoted interesting ones for you lazy readers.

"Homosexual couples.. cannot produce children. Heterosexual couples CAN. THAT'S what marriage is!"
after that he proceeded into doing an odd set of movement which made me truly believe he's mentally retarded. Rich Anderson, get off the friggin podium before I throw rainbows at you.
a. yes, whatever happens to heterosexual couples who are infertile?
b. What do you call couples having children outside marriage? MARRIAGE?

"We want to protect something called responsible procreation... We want to drive... *insert weird hand gestures* procreation into a stable... relationship-- and, and procreation only happens between... *gropes invisible bosoms* male and female. You see, a male and female can do something that a homosexual com-- couple cannot. They can create children... accidentally. It isn't about love, it isn't about romance.."

and the award for Most Stupid State Rep goes to..... MISTER RICH ANDERSON!
1. "we want to protect something called responsible procreation." and what do you know, a few sentence  later, he mentioned a flaw that homosexuals have and that heterosexuals don't: Heteros can create children accidentally. This is a lot more funnier than 9gag.
2. Apparently responsible procreation isn't about love and romance. Kids, listen to Rich and throw away all your fairy tales. It's not about love or romance. Never is in Iowa.
3. creating accidental children is apparently BETTER than homosexual marriage. WOW. Just wow. Go make babies now, at least it's better than being gay, according to Rich.

What I can't believe was that people listened more to this NONSENSICAL BABBLING IDIOT that is Rich Anderson rather than a real, mature, honest gentleman speaking from his own life, Zach Walsh.

"I guess the point is that our family isn't so different with any other Iowa family, you know, when I home we go to church together, we eat dinner, we go on vacations, uh, but we have our hard times to, we get in fights..."

"but you know, we're Iowans, we don't expect anyone to solve our problems for us, we'll fight our own battles, we just hope for equal and fair treatment from our government."

"after all, your family doesn't derive its sense of worth from the being told by the state, 'you're married, congratulations!' No, the sense of family comes from the commitment we make to each other to work through the hard times so we can enjoy the good ones that comes from the love that binds us. THAT's what makes a family."

"...because the sexual orientation of my parents has had ZERO effect of the content of my character."

I couldn't quote anymore, since i'm basically tearing.
So Iowa, why on EARTH did you still vote to discriminate REAL families? Has the world gone that mad for sane people to listen to babbling idiots? I have absolutely no idea.

Here you have living proof of a successful gay marriage, and you still feel like you should make these people a second class citizen because they just are different.
It's basically the same as not understanding English spoken by an Irish just because it's different.

My faith in humanity just evaporated about 50%.

Gay Marriage and Christianity

Hey, get ready for a bitch's rant. My blog has been happy-go-round but I guess this is worth it.

Somebody tweeted this earlier on. (@gandrasta)
http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE8081RM20120109?irpc=932

It's about gay marriage and Pope Benedict making a strong point of view about how it "was one of several threats to the traditional family that undermined "the future of humanity itself." I'm falling off my chair laughing at his statements.

This gay marriage issue is one of the thing I think religion is honestly, full of shite.

My main issue is that :
I do not understand why being gay is wrong.

Asking this to Catholics, they'd answer 'being gay is wrong because gay marriages cannot reproduce.
Can't reproduce? Tell you what, nuns and priest also can't reproduce. They're also wrong? No, they'd say, because they serve God by devoting their lives to God, helping God serve the people, and not to a family. So logically speaking, nuns and priests are allowed to put God before humanity. I believe that every religion in this world are supposed to help human to live their life in a more peaceful state. Nevertheless, sometimes religions put themselves over humanity and this is why I'm agnostic. Gay marriages are wrong because they can't reproduce = humanity. Nuns and priest are abstinent and they are correct = religion.

oh and, talking about Priests, i just had to put these priest rape cases here.

and this  http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/may/29/raped-by-catholic-priest
aaaand this.  http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/british-woman-tells-of-priest-rape-ordeal-2122110.html

"being gay is wrong because (i quote the article) children should grow up in a traditional family with a mother and a father."

My father left us when I was still 9 years old. I've been living with my mum ever since. Technically, we're the same as being gay. We're wrong. I've no father and my family isn't traditional. 'Children SHOULD grow up in a traditional family with a mother and a father'. True, it's best for children to grow in a family with a mother and a father, but does sex determine the role of parenting? I thought we're supposed to have gender equality? Everybody could be anything they want, not just what their sex told them to be.

Besides, I do not think that having two dads, or two mums, or even a single parent can guarantee that children will grow up miserable. How many cases have we heard about an abusive family with a mother and a father? Oh wait, there you go.
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=55f_1310498192
That's the article to a case in Denmark where BOTH the father and mother abused 10 children and step children. Hurrah for 'traditional family with a mother and father'!

and wait, here's another one! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/southkorea/7376178/Korean-couple-let-baby-starve-to-death-while-caring-for-virtual-child.html
Yes, these Korean parents went gaming and neglected their unnamed baby to care for a virtual child, online.

What I'm trying to say is that even with a father and a mother, things could go wrong, and they sometimes do. Having a normal traditional family does not guarantee that parenting becomes perfect. So does a gay couple having a child or two. Things do get wrong, but there is no need for a prejudice that says a gay parent is wrong and won't raise good kids.

I quote:
"The family unit is fundamental for the educational process and for the development both of individuals and states; hence there is a need for policies which promote the family and aid social cohesion and dialogue," Benedict told the diplomats.

What determines a 'family unit'? What makes you think that families with two same sex parents do not promote family and aid social cohesion and dialogue? Ooh, my dads are gay, I don't have the right to speak my views. Huh? I don't see the logic in that policy you said, Pope.

By now, Catholics are slamming the keyboards and shaking their heads. The more polite ones might be screaming 'LESBIAN! YOU GAY WH*RE!' at their screens.
Hi there, I'm straight, and I've nothing against gay couples, and I don't see why a religion should.

love, Noirette.

Year

Hey! Still on holidays now, but school starts in two days! Cho sad :( I need more time at home with my babies!

Spent Christmas at the boyfriend's childhood home with his family, had our tradition Christmas lunch with mum a few days after.. We had crappy pasta and mum a pancake. No, we don't look alike.

New Year's was spent with boyfriend and mum at my home. My house was near a mall and I always spend NYE going to the second floor's balcony to look at the fireworks. This year me and the boyfriend decided we would be Spidermans and climbed THE ROOF instead :D The view was spectacular! We got front-row seats for the fireworks.

Happy 2012!
